The recent fires around Longwood and surrounding districts have been devastating for many local families, farmers, and landholders. Homes, fencing, pasture, stock, and years of hard work have been lost in a matter of hours. Like many in the region, we’ve felt this deeply — not just as contractors, but as locals.
At Acrewise Civil, our priority during events like this is simple: help where we can, when it’s needed most.
On the Fireground
Over the past few weekswe have been directly assisting on and around the fireground with machinery and labour, supporting access works, containment efforts, and recovery tasks. This includes the use of excavators and skid steers to help clear fire breaks, manage hazardous trees, and assist emergency response operations where requested.
We’ve also been involved in delivering hay and assisting landholders where possible, alongside many others who stepped up with private fire units, tankers, utes, and basic setups. What we witnessed was the Australianspirit at its best — neighbours helping neighbours without hesitation.
Thank You to Emergency Services
We want to sincerely thank the CFA, emergency services, and all volunteers who worked tirelessly under extreme conditions to protect lives and property. The scale of effort, coordination, and personal sacrifice during this event cannot be overstated.
Equally, a huge acknowledgment to the countless locals who dropped everything to help — often with very little recognition — but made a real difference on the ground.
Recovery & Ongoing Support
As the immediate danger passes, the focus now turns to recovery. For many properties, this includes:
-
Fire-damaged vegetation and fallen trees
-
Fence-line clearing and access restoration
-
Burnt regrowth an
-
d hazardous fuel loads
-
Earthworks to reopen tracks, drains, and fire breaks
We are offering practical, on-ground assistance where we can and will continue working with landholders, fencing contractors, and insurers as the clean-up progresses.
If you’ve been affected and aren’t sure where to start, feel free to reach out. Even if it’s just a conversation, we’re happy to help point you in the right direction.
A Community That Shows Up
Events like the Longwood fires remind us how strong regional communities really are. The support, resilience, and determination we’ve seen will carry this area forward in the weeks and months ahead.
Our thoughts remain with everyone impacted — and we’ll continue doing our part to help the region recover.
